Film South Asia ’07
The sixth edition of the festival of Southasian documentaries, Film South Asia ’07, was held in Kathmandu from 11-15 October 2007. Forty-eight films were screened, selected from 285 submitted. Following the main event, “to let our hair seriously down,” FSA ’07 organisers hosted a festival of Southasian Music Videos (FSA-MV). Three music video connoisseurs from Bombay, Lahore and Kathmandu curated FSA-MV.
FSA ’07 was held at a commercial duplex because of the ever-growing popularity of the festival. The response of the Kathmandu audience met the organisers’ expectations, with most of the screenings running to full houses. The success of FSA ’07 also confirmed our belief that the popularity of the Southasian documentary is registering a continuous upward swing.
“Dare to DOCUMENTary” was the slogan of FSA ’07, saluting the work of the documaker for having the courage and the commitment to tackle the world, and also challenging them to explore some more.
